This really is the most wonderful time of the year. It’s time to eat, drink, be merry, and spend quality time with loved ones. However, you may feel like hosting a holiday party is a cruel punishment that will leave you stressed out and on edge. I’m here to tell you that hosting a holiday party can actually be a fun, stress-free experience – IF you follow these simple rules.
I absolutely love the feeling of a plush rug under my feet. But, my bath mats quickly become magnets for hair, dust, and make-up. After constant vacuuming and washing, they are no longer nice and fluffy. So, I’ve decided to replace them with a chic, spa-inspired alternative – teak bath mats. Teak wood is not only beautiful, but also water resistant and naturally anti fungal.

Thanks to Netflix, I have recently discovered Mad Men. And I’m in love…with the oh-so-suave Don Draper and the set designs. Set in the 1960s, the Mad Men sets are decorated in the uncomplicated, organic Mid-Century Modern stye I adore. Thanks to a weekend of binge-watching, I’m sharing a few must haves and a little inspiration that will help you create a Mad Men inspired office.
I am a 37 year old woman. And I still LOVE pink! There I said it. I’ve loved pink every since my Barbies got that pink convertible for Christmas. There is plenty evidence that I haven’t been able to let my passion for pink go – from my pink lunch bag, my workout bag and even pink computer mouse. As a matter of fact, I’m in the process of creating a decorating plan for my bedroom and, yes, I will be featuring pink. I know you may be thinking “Pink? Really? Who are you Elle Woods? Your room is going to look like a baby nursery!” Au contraire mon frere, the color pink can be used to create a warm, sophisticated space without being overly feminine. You just have to know how to do it the right way. In today’s post, you’ll see that pink isn’t just for little girls.
Remember the color-phobic friend I talked about in my last post? Well, I finally convinced her to inject a little personality into her home by adding color. I almost have her onboard to actually paint the walls! Now that that she’s totally excited about giving her home a makeover, her next question to me was, “what colors should I use?” Now, this seems like a fairly simple question, right? Just tell her to pick her favorite color(s) and go wild. Not quite. Yes, room color can be a great way to reflect your personality. However, with a background in psychology, I know that colors can also influence your mood, activity level and emotions in very different ways. For that reason, my advice is to choose room color wisely. Before you buy that red paint for your bedroom or the blue rug for your kitchen, consider how you want to feel in that particular room. To help you make the right color choices for your next decorating project, I’m sharing how 5 popular colors can influence your mood.
A friend of mine recently asked me to help her give her boring living room a much-needed makeover. I took one look at the bland beige walls, beige rug and brown furniture, and immediately said “we have got to add some color to this place!” When I saw the panic-stricken look on their face, I knew she was suffering from color-phobia. She’s not alone though. A lot of people have a fear of color when it comes to decorating. They think adding color to a room means you have to paint the walls. Then they’re afraid of picking the the wrong colors and having to live with the mistake. So instead they learn to live in a space with zero personality. If you can relate, today’s post is just for you; Despite your apprehension, decorating with color is pretty easy to do because a just a little goes a long way. Today, I’ll show you how to add color a room – with picking up a paintbrush.
Unlike a lot of my friends, I am not a Scandal fanatic. Never been to a Scandal watch party or tweeted throughout an entire episode. But, I am an Olivia Pope fan. She’s confident. Smart. Strong yet vulnerable at times. And the girl’s got style. Yes, Liv’s wardrobe is to die for but, when I first caught a glimpse of her home, I became an even bigger fan of her style. Simple, classic elegance – with a touch of femininity. Can’t you picture yourself relaxing on Olivia’s sofa with a glass of wine and bowl of popcorn after a long day of “handling” things? Today’s post will make your dream a reality.

Doesn’t that sound fun? Don’t you want to make a few New Year’s resolutions for your home? Sure you do! Let’s get it started!
