So I’ve watched A Charlie Brown Christmas. I’ve added Kiki’s Ultimate Christmas playlist to my iTunes rotation (if you haven’t checked that out, click here) and drank some mulled wine. I’m officially in the holiday spirit and ready to add a little Christmas cheer to my home. However, Christmas decorating has always been challenging for me for because I’m not a fan of matchy-matchy, traditional decor. Decorating is a process for me. I like to collect unique, one-of-kind things that “speak to me.” That’s why until this year, my holiday decor consisted of three super cute Christmas-y pillows and bowls of ornaments and faux cranberries throughout the house. But i’ve made progress this year, ya’ll! I finally bought not 1, 2, or 3 but 4 cool, creative Christmas trees! Have a looksy:
Probably not what you expected but they really reflect my personal style. If, like me, you embrace the eclectic and dare to be different, you’ll love these cool, creative Christmas trees.
Creative Christmas Trees for Decorating Dare Devils
1. The Funky, Collection Tree
No trash – only treasures here. Jane from All the Luck in the World uses totally random, but beautiful items collected over the years to create the most creative Christmas tree I’ve seen in a while.
The eclectic mixture of object types and colors are festive and truly a work of art. To recreate this tree, go on a scavenger hunt through your kitchen junk drawer (everyone has one), your kid’s toy chest or your jewelry box for objects with visual interest and personality.
2. The Christmas TapesTREE
Who needs a real tree when you can have a tapestree?! Get it? This photo realistic cotton tapestry from Urban Outfitters is an awesome Christmas tree alternative for apartment dwellers.
It also makes a pretty nice photo backdrop for your holiday party.
3. The 2-D Tree
If you prefer the minimalist, less-is-more approach to decorating, you’ll love this 2-D tree idea from Domino Magazine. With a pencil, lightly sketch an outline of a Christmas tree on the wall. Strategically place a few nails or push pins along the outline, string a few Christmas lights and you’re done.
4. The Chalkboard Tree

What a great opportunity for you “ar-teest” out there to create a masterpiece. Once you have sketched your tree on the chalkboard, add a few holiday objects (i.e. snow globes, greenery, figurines, etc). You now have the perfect Christmas vignette for your entryway.
5. The Ornament Tree
Maybe you don’t want to totally abandon the ornament hanging tradition but, you don’t want spend hours putting an artificial tree together or vacuuming up pine needles from a real one. A Spiral, metal ornament tree like this one found on Ebay adds a touch of elegance and allows you display your beautiful ornament collection.
Very interesting and unique.
