A friend of mine recently asked me to help her give her boring living room a much-needed makeover. I took one look at the bland beige walls, beige rug and brown furniture, and immediately said “we have got to add some color to this place!” When I saw the panic-stricken look on their face, I knew she was suffering from color-phobia. She’s not alone though. A lot of people have a fear of color when it comes to decorating. They think adding color to a room means you have to paint the walls. Then they’re afraid of picking the the wrong colors and having to live with the mistake. So instead they learn to live in a space with zero personality. If you can relate, today’s post is just for you; Despite your apprehension, decorating with color is pretty easy to do because a just a little goes a long way. Today, I’ll show you how to add color a room – with picking up a paintbrush.
How to Add Color to a Room Without Painting
Add Color With Pillows
One of the least expensive, quickest ways to add a pop of color to a living room or bedroom. Another bonus is pillows can also be easily swapped out to reflect the season or holiday.
Add Color With Artwork
Go big and bold with artwork to add color and personality. DIY Tip: Purchase floral or patterned wallpaper sample and frame them -Voila! an instant one-of-a-kind masterpiece!
Add color with Flowers
Brightly colored flowers add color without the commitment. Simply place flower stems in glass jars or vases. Use varying heights to add more visual interest.
Add Color With Rugs
Rugs with bold colors and patterns add dramatic yet, unobtrusive swath of color.

Flowers instantly brighten up any room! I love a good rug or accent pillows too. Great choices 🙂
Nadine, I agree! accent pillows are my go-to way to add a pop of color. And they allow we to try various color combos without spending a ton of money
