Take a look at each of the collages below. Pick one of the interior design styles that “speaks” to you the most.
If You Chose 1 Your Style Is: TRADITIONAL
You probably like…order and structure. Rules are a necessary part of life. And chaos or disorganization drive you crazy.
The Traditional style conveys a sense or order and predictability – in a good way. Elements of a Traditional space include sturdy yet comfortable furniture, refined furnishings, subtle colors and detailed woodwork and moldings.
If You Chose 2 Your Style Is: CONTEMPORARY
You probably like.. to visit art museums to see the latest abstract exhibition. You loved geometry in high school and your m.o. is “less is more.”
The Contemporary design style is the polar opposite of Traditional style. That means less ornamentation, minimal accessories, natural light and plenty of open space.
If You Chose 3 Your Style Is: ECLECTIC
You probably like…. breaking the rules. You despise anything that’s “match-matchy.” You can pair a vintage floral shirt with pinstripe pants – and totally werk it! Your iTunes playlist includes anything from Mozart to the Lady Gaga to the Black Keys to Kanye West
Eclectic design throws the rule book out of the window. It’s old meets new, East meets West, flashy meets understated. Eclectic design style encourages you to curate by selecting unique furnishings that you love and objects that “speak” to you.
If You Chose 4 Your Style Is: MID CENTURY MODERN
You probably like…. no..LOVE Mad Men and have watched every episode – twice. You totally dig modern art and you think the Brady Brunch living room didn’t look that bad.
Mid Century Modern design is defined by uncomplicated decor and clean, simple lines. Wood pieces are simply finished to highlight the natural beauty. Mid Century Modern décor consists of geometric patterns, bold colours and materials such as Formica, boldly colored plastics and vinyl.
If You Chose 5 Your Style Is: RUSTIC
You probably like.. . flannel shirts and PJs during the winter months. You loved Little House on the Prairie as a kid. And your idea of the perfect vacation is camping in the Smoky mountains.
Rustic design is simple but it highlights natural beauty and creates a warm atmosphere. Unfinished woods, sturdy, hardworking fabrics like burlap, cotton and wool, and repurposed objects are hallmarks of the refreshingly honest Rustic aesthetic.
I’m #1 – Traditional. Looking forward to your great designs as you take on the exciting job of re-designing your childhood home. I hope I don’t have to do anything more than provide the $$$$. You know I don’t like shopping.
I promise to make it as painless as possible!
