Remember the color-phobic friend I talked about in my last post? Well, I finally convinced her to inject a little personality into her home by adding color. I almost have her onboard to actually paint the walls! Now that that she’s totally excited about giving her home a makeover, her next question to me was, “what colors should I use?” Now, this seems like a fairly simple question, right? Just tell her to pick her favorite color(s) and go wild. Not quite. Yes, room color can be a great way to reflect your personality. However, with a background in psychology, I know that colors can also influence your mood, activity level and emotions in very different ways. For that reason, my advice is to choose room color wisely. Before you buy that red paint for your bedroom or the blue rug for your kitchen, consider how you want to feel in that particular room. To help you make the right color choices for your next decorating project, I’m sharing how 5 popular colors can influence your mood.
Color 101: How to Add Color to a Room Without Painting
A friend of mine recently asked me to help her give her boring living room a much-needed makeover. I took one look at the bland beige walls, beige rug and brown furniture, and immediately said “we have got to add some color to this place!” When I saw the panic-stricken look on their face, I knew she was suffering from color-phobia. She’s not alone though. A lot of people have a fear of color when it comes to decorating. They think adding color to a room means you have to paint the walls. Then they’re afraid of picking the the wrong colors and having to live with the mistake. So instead they learn to live in a space with zero personality. If you can relate, today’s post is just for you; Despite your apprehension, decorating with color is pretty easy to do because a just a little goes a long way. Today, I’ll show you how to add color a room – with picking up a paintbrush.

Clean Slate Series: The Junk Drawer Makeover
Let’s admit it. We all have that notorious “junk drawer” in the kitchen. You know, that drawer that you shove everything that was on counter into before your guests arrive. If yours is anything like mine, there is absolutely no telling what you will find in there and there’s no real rhyme or reason WHY those things are there. I have to dig through piles of junk just to find a simple pair of scissors. This is why I sometimes purchase things that I already have. What a waste of time AND money! In my last post, I told you guys I was getting my act together in 2015 by getting organized. In today’s post, the first of my CLEAN SLATE Series, I will show you how to makeover your junk drawer in 1 hour or less. I’m also revealing the results of my junk drawer makeover. If I can do it, trust me, anyone can.

Creative Christmas Trees for the Daring Decorator
So I’ve watched A Charlie Brown Christmas. I’ve added Kiki’s Ultimate Christmas playlist to my iTunes rotation (if you haven’t checked that out, click here) and drank some mulled wine. I’m officially in the holiday spirit and ready to add a little Christmas cheer to my home. However, Christmas decorating has always been challenging for me for because I’m not a fan of matchy-matchy, traditional decor. Decorating is a process for me. I like to collect unique, one-of-kind things that “speak to me.” That’s why until this year, my holiday decor consisted of three super cute Christmas-y pillows and bowls of ornaments and faux cranberries throughout the house. But i’ve made progress this year, ya’ll! I finally bought not 1, 2, or 3 but 4 cool, creative Christmas trees! Have a looksy:
Probably not what you expected but they really reflect my personal style. If, like me, you embrace the eclectic and dare to be different, you’ll love these cool, creative Christmas trees.
